After a suspected drunk driver runs through a stop sign on

Mulberry Street
in Rockford, he loses control and crashes right into a house.

Police found an open bottle of alcohol inside the car.

The driver, 29-year-old LaShawn Dixon,  wasn't alone either he had an 11-year-old boy in the car with him.

Both are in the hospital.

As for the home, the city inspector condemned the house because of the structural damage from the accident.

And after the inspection, they found the living conditions inside the home were extremely unsanitary.

They say even if this car smashed hadn't into the home, it would have been condemned anyway.

"Until the building department rules that the house is habitable, we're going to keep people from staying here." The family is staying at a shelter tonight.

The driver of the vehicle will likely be charged with DUI and reckless driving.
