Line-of-Duty Benefit to be Paid to Illinois Families

Today the director of the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs and Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn announcement a plan that would immediately compensate the families.
The plan calls for the Court of Claims to pay off four of the outstanding claims in full; giving each family $50,000.
One million dollars will be borrowed from the veterans care health insurance program and divided equally among the remaining families. That money will be paid back once lawmakers pass a supplemental appropriation bill.
