Rockford - Local non-profits get major help filling some of their budget holes.

The Rockford Cosmopolitan Club awarded 14 grants today, totaling about $25,000.  The club says they're in a position to help out, so they didn't hesitate to do so.  "We do see a need in our community to help out" says Patrick Morrow, president of the club's charities board.  "We're about 165 members strong and we feel a responsibility to help our community."

Here's who received grants: Blackhawk Area Council, Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, RAMP, United For Youth, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Center for Sight and Hearing, Rockford Lutheran, Patriots Gateway Community Center, First Tee of Greater Rockford, Midway Village Museum, Rockford Park District, Rockford Rescue Mission, Shelter Care Ministries, and the Rock River Valley Blood Center.
