The abandoned home located in the 3000 block of South Main Street in Rockford caught fire. A roofing crew nearby noticed the porch was on fire and called the fire department. Fire officials say they don't know how the fire started and no one was in the home at the time. Several area fire departments were called to help assist.

The fire took several hours to put out. The home is a total loss.
