The project includes a 1 mile stretch from City Park, past the Wheeler House to the Wheeler Avenue Bridge. The path would extend into Beloit. The estimated cost of the project is $500,000.00. South Beloit's Commissioner of Finance says the plan is to not use tax dollars.

City of South Beloit Finance Commissioner Alice Schoonover said "we should hear in September on whether or not we get the grant or not and hopefully we can move on it right away. I have 3 more years left of holding office and I would like to see it accomplished within those three years."

The group Beloit 20/20 has said they'll contribute $40,000 if the grant is approved.
