It happened in the landfill located at 525 Black Bridge Road at 2 P.M. Saturday. Nearly half an acre of the landfill was on fire when fire-fighters arrived on scene.

Twenty-five gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire. Janesville and Milton fire departments were on scene.

It took firefighters two hours to put on the blaze. Fire officials say the fire was most likely caused by hot coals disposed of in the trash today.
