UPDATE: Rockford Stabbing Victim Dies

UPDATED 7/9/2012: Rockford Police say a 21-year-old woman stabbed on Thursday is now dead. Charges against Perkins have been upgraded to murder.
Rockford - A woman is stabbed several times and the alleged suspect, who is her boyfriend, is now in custody.
Melvin Perkins, 30, has been charged with attempted first degree murder. According to police, Perkins stabbed the victim several times at a home at 510 N. Horsman Street just before 4am.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment. No word yet on her condition.
