DeKalb, Illinois-The NIU Huskies opened up practice Monday in Dekalb.  Second year head coach Dave Doeren has 105 players in camp including 36 newcommers. Former Belvidere North standout Austin Smaha wasn't on the field.  He won't enroll at NIU until January, so he will sit out the season.

The Huskies are the defending Mid-American Conference Champions.  They enter this season with a nine game winning streak, the longest in major college football.

The Huskies have 25 days until their opener against Iowa at Soldier Field.
