"That takes time. Being the new guy, you've always gotta prove yourself. I'm looking forward to the challenge," said runningback Michael Bush.
So how is Bush doing?
"I'm doing fine. No complaining. Just trying to get the job done."
The Bears think Bush can get the job done, signing the former Oakland raider to a four-year contradct in march. The 245-pound running back is expected to help fire up the Bears offense near the goaline and in other short yardage situations.
"You gotta be fired up," said Bush. "If not, somebody's gonna fire you up! You've got to be ready. It's part of football. each year, I get as skinny as I can but it never works. I'll roll with it."
Bush is a guy that knows his role. He knows he'll never be the Bears' feature back as long as Matt Forte is around. But he says playing second fiddle to Matt Forte is a pretty good job.
"When Matt comes out, I come in and basically pick up where he left off. I don't think there's gonna be a change in the offense at all. I just gotta get ready to know everything," said Bush.
Bush wants to make sure the Bears won't be considered Bush League if they're hits with injuries to the backfield this season
