Machesney Park Man's Murder Trial Set To Begin

Rockford - The trial for a Machesney Park man accused of murder is set to get underway.

Now 23 years-old, Phillip Scherer was just 17 when he allegedly shot and killed Nicholas Halsted.

Yesterday, he waived his rights to a jury trial.  He's pled not guilty.
