Like a lot of women, Cena Keen loves to shop for jewelry. And today she's in search of one thing: a colored diamond.
Keen
explains "they're different and I like usually a unique piece or something
different or a different design."
Rogers
and Hollands Jewelers has no shortage of the naturally colored gems. Jewelry
experts say that colored diamonds are taking over engagements.
Rogers
and Hollands Promotions Coordinator Lisa Petrucz says "people like
something unique. They don't want to wear a diamond ring that their friends are
wearing they want to have something very special and uniquely theirs, so the
colored diamonds are popular and also people see them on
celebrities."
Petrucz
explains their secret to staying open; "Being family owned we bring in a
large selection of diamonds and unusual things like colored diamonds for events
that really attract people's attention. We try to do something different than
everybody else."
Jewelry stores see an uptick in diamond ring sales near the holidays. And if you're planning on getting engaged Cena offers up some advice; buying a diamond is an investment.
Keen
says "I wouldn't settle for something of lesser value just maybe because it'd
be bigger. I would like to have a better quality diamond."
