ROCKFORD - Rockford Police are
investigating the second of two stabbings at businesses located on
Broadway. The two stabbings occurred just
three blocks from each other. Police
responded to today's stabbing at around 2:30 PM.
Today's stabbing involved a 40 year-old male at the Reingold Computer Exchange, 1224 Broadway. Police are labeling the incident at an armed robbery after they say a man pulled a knife on the victim and demanded money. The victim is listed in critical condition at an area hospital. Neighbors believe the victim may be the store's owner.
The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect #1
M/B late 20's early 30's 5"7" tall 150 lbs
Suspect #2
M/B late 20's early 30's 6'0" tall 180 lbs
Police say they
aren't sure if today's stabbing is related to a stabbing on Tuesday at the
Happy Store in the 1500 block of Broadway.
The victim in that stabbing is a 69 year-old man that neighbors call, "Hodge". Neighbors say he was alone in his store at
the time, which made him an easy target for thieves, although police are not
labeling his stabbing an armed robbery at this time.
Currently police aren't releasing any information regarding leads on either case. If you have any information regarding either Broadway stabbing you're urged to call Crimestoppers at (888) 769-STOP. Your information could result in a reward.
