Van Vleet, Shockers Advance 3/21/13

Rockford, Illinois-Auburn graduate Fred Van Vleet and the Wichita State Shockers are moving on to round two of the NCAA Tournament.  The Shockers cruised past Pittsburgh 73-55.

Malcolm Armstead scored 22 points and Cleanthony Early 21 for Wichita State. Van Vleet played 14 minutes. He had three rebounds and one assist. He was 0 for 2 from the field. He made one of two free throws to finish with one point.

The Shockers are 27-8. They'll most likely play #1 seed and #1 ranked Gonzaga in the second round on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
