Dozens of officers were brought in for Saturdays Minuteman meeting.
They were brought in for crowd control, for a crowd that never really materialized.
The event`s organizer Rosanna Pulido feels that all the hype overshadowed the actual event.
"They`re learning, we`re learning," says Pulido. "So what are you going to do, you know?"
One hundred forty tickets were given out, but just over half of the event`s ticket holders showed up.
"I know some people were concerned about streets being closed," says Pulido. "I wish the circumference was smaller. Some people couldn`t get in."
Still, Pulido says the event was a success.
The town hall meeting allowed the group to spread their message of the dangers of illegal immigration.
And they were able to start a Rockford chapter of the Illinois minuteman project.
"The great thing is 60 people who want to get involved came," says Pulido. "We`re going to have teams from nationals, from Arizona, come for training here to train team leaders."
Pulido says ten area residents signed up to be Rockford Minuteman Project team leaders.
The Illinois Minuteman Project has local meetings planned for training from law enforcement officers specializing in border control.
