Rockford UPS Expansion Could Benefit Rockford Airport In Several Ways

(Rockford, Illinois) The UPS expansion announced Monday in Rockford is expected to have a big impact on the Rockford airport beyond the cargo industry. Airport officials say the facility could move up from its listing as the 22nd largest air cargo airport to as high as 15th in the near future. RFD Executive Airport Director Bob O`Brien says the expansion may eventually help improve the airport`s overall passenger service, and adds, "It just means a stronger aviation environment which then we can leverage to do other great things." O`Brien adds Federal aid to the airport should increase as a result of the expansion. Rockford is currently UPS` second largest air-cargo hub in the nation.
