Belvidere, Illinois- A standoff in a Belvidere neighborhood begins with a man getting shot and ends with another man in the Boone County Jail.
"My wife woke me up and said there was a situation in the neighborhood. There was some sort of gunshots that rang out," says Paul Casprzyckey.
Several nearby families evacuated their homes early in the morning, after Eddie Trevino fired two shots from a 12-gauge shot gun. Neighbors were frightened.
"It`s pretty scary with my kids around," says Quentin Britton.
An undentified victim escaped from Trevino`s home with minor wounds. But when police arrived, Trevino barricaded himself inside his house in the 700 block of South Main.
Belvidere police got as close as they could to Trevino`s home and tried to reach him by phone for several hours. His family and friends nervously waited down the street.
Finally, 6 hours later, Trevino surrendered.
"I`m extremely happy that this was resolved without any discharge of firearm by our own officers and that the subject came out on his own," says Belvideres Police Chief Jan Noble.
Trevino was immediately arrested and police found more guns inside his home.
"He was cuffed and removed from the scene where he was transported to the Public Safety Buidling," says Noble.
Trevino is being charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm. His bond is set at $50,000.
No officers were harmed this morning during the standoff.
