Changes Coming For IceHogs/AHL 6/29/12

Rockford, Illinois-Video replay is coming on a limited basis for the
IceHogs and the AHL. At it's annual meeting this week the AHL Board of
Governors approved the use of a video goal-review system for all games
starting in the 2012-13 season.
Video replay will be used in instances of questionable goals.
Also the league added a 'Handling the Puck' rule. It now calls for a minor penalty any time a player places his hand over the puck while it is on the ice in order to conceal it from or prevent an opponent from playing the puck.
The IceHogs division will also have a different look next season. The Charlotte Checkers have been moved from the Midwest Division to the South Division. And the Grand Rapids Griffins will join the IceHogs, Wolves, Admirals and Rivermen in the Midwest Division.
The IceHogs home opener is set for Saturday, October 20th. The opponent has yet to be announced. The IceHogs entire schedule will be announced later this summer.
