Rockford, Illinois-The annual dash down State Street in Rockford was on again Saturday.  The State Street mile had runners sprinting from SwedishAmerican Hospital to the State Street Bridge.

Dan Kremske of Woodstock was the men's open champion. The former University of Illinois runner clocked in at 4 minutes and eight seconds.

"It's a good event," Kremske told WTVO.  "We do a lot of summer training.  I've run a lot of different road races especially in the Rockford area.  I ran the Rockford Half-Marathon earlier and the MELD 8K and then this."

The women's open winner was former Rockford Lutheran and former University of Minnesota runner Andrea Rediger.  She won for the second straight year with a time of 4:45.

"It's my favorite race of the year," said Rediger to WTVO.  "I make it a point every year to come back from Minnesota and run this one."

The Men's Masters Champion (age 40 and over) was Shawn Moore of Winnebago. The Women's Masters Champion was Jessica Langford of Rockford.

The girls race winner was Harlem student Moriah Palmer.  The boys race winner was Byron junior T.J. Pitcock.

There was also a one mile health walk/run and a kids fun run.
