The Illinois House will vote on pension reform next Friday during a special session of the General Assembly.

They'll vote on the bill the Senate already passed back in May.  House Bill 1447 changes pensions for those in the state employee retirement and general assembly systems.  But, it doesn't touch the controversial issue of shifting pension costs for downstate teachers from the state to local school districts.

However, if the limited pension reform deal is passed, it could keep the state's credit rating safe.  Agencies had threatened to double downgrade it.
