Knaus Suspension Lifted 3/20/12

By: Scott Leber
Updated: March 20, 2012
Rockford, Illinois-Rockford native Chad Knaus can get back to doing what he does best...make the 48 car go fast.

Tuesday his six race suspension by NASCAR was lifted.  It was overturned by Chief Appeals Officer John Middlebrook.  Middlebrook also restored the 25 car points that were taken from racer Jimmie Johnson.  But Knaus will still have to pay a $100,000 fine.

NASCAR doled out the punishment days before the Daytona 500 when it ruled that the C-Posts on the 48 car were illegal.  That ruling was made before the car was inspected.

Hendrick Motorsports which owns the 48 car and team appealed the decision claiming that the same car had passed inspection 16 times before in 2012.
