(Rockford) -- Dennis Thompson, a former Rockford Public Schools superintendent, will receive a $120,000 settlement from the Collier County School Board in Florida.

Thompson alleges the district breached his contract with him, claiming they disregarded terms involving performance goals.

Thompson claims he should have been reassigned to an administrative position with the same pay grade, or granted his automatic one-year extension, as specified by his contract.

The school district says they're not admitting fault by agreeing to the settlement, but say it is in their best interest to move on.
