Springfield - More than 50 people in prisons across the state have been granted clemency by Gov. Pat Quinn, including two here in the Stateline.

William Neubauer was convicted 17 years ago for domestic battery and Michelle Turner was convicted of forgery in 1983.  But, they've been pardoned and the charges expunged from their record.

The Governor's office says the decisions are meant to eliminate a backlog of more than 2,500 cases that built up during Blagojevich's administration.  Since taking office, Gov. Quinn has granted clemency to about 700 people.
