Rockford, Illinois-At Auburn High School they're taking small steps in the football program, but Monday was a very big day.

It was the Knight's first time on the practice field under new head coach Dan Appino and his staff.  The Knights held their first workout of summer camp.  High School teams are allowed to have 25 practices in the summer.

63 players turned out Monday. That's a very good showing for Auburn.  Auburn is coming off three consecutive 0-9 seasons.  Appino won State Championships the last two seasons at the helm of Boylan High School.
