In June, the city released a statement warning citizens that energy suppliers were misrepresenting themselves as the city's new energy supplier.

At tonight's city council meeting several Aldermen mentioned they're still receiving complaints from constituents, many who have entered contracts with these companies.

Rockford's new electrical aggregation program allows residents to opt out of the city's chosen energy supplier and continue purchasing energy from Com-Ed if they choose.

Now city leaders are questioning the legality of these companies pressuring residents to enter agreements saying they're preying on the elderly.

"Any time you coerce somebody into doing something by misinformation I don't think that's a valid contract and those people should be allowed out of those contracts with no penalties," said 4th Ward Alderman Carl Wasco.

Alderman Linda McNeely is holding a meeting for residents with questions. Representatives from the City of Rockford, First Energy Solution, Com-Ed and Citizens Utility Board will be on hand to answer questions.

The meeting will be held tomorrow night at 6:30 P.M. at St. Anthony's Church located at 1010 Ferguson Street in Rockford.
