Alternative Energy Scams

By: Marty Kasper
Updated: June 22, 2012
The city of Rockford is alerting people that alternative energy suppliers might misrepresent themselves.

Any representative from an alternative energy supplier calling or soliciting residents isn't acting on behalf of the city.  Residents already enrolled in the city's new aggregation program will receive a letter in the next several weeks.  That letter will name the chosen group supplier.

Residents can also opt-out of the program if they'd like and continue buying energy from Com-Ed.

A contract between the city of Rockford and selected alternative energy supplier is expected in the next two weeks.
