New Life-Saving Equipment For First Responders

By: Alex de Leon
Updated: March 21, 2013
Rockford - Stateline first responders have a new life-saving tool at the ready.

OSF Medical Center is putting video laryngoscopes in its EMS units.  The device allows first responders a better way to visualize a patient's airway enabling them to actually see the airway on a video screen.

In the past, if a tube had to be inserted, they've have to guide the tube by looking into the patient's mouth.  A total of 44 units will be placed into EMS vehicles.
