(Washington, DC) -- A father and son have pled guilty to charges of selling counterfeit computer software over the Internet valued at one-million-dollars.
The Department of Justice says Robert Cook and his son Todd violated criminal copyright infringement laws.
Court documents say the Cooks ran several websites selling large volumes of counterfeit computer software.
Both men admit using the Internet to sell the downloadable items without the consent of copyright owners.
They also say they promoted their scheme with advertising placed with major Internet search engines.
The father and son from Wichita Falls, Texas, face as much as five years in prison and a fine of 250-thousand-dollars.
They are due to be sentenced in mid-June.
