Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias was in Rockford Fiday to talk with unemployed Stateline workers about their concerns. He held an economic round table discussion with four unemployed workers from the Stateline area. Laurie Siebert, a former librarian and manager for the Rockford Library was one of them. She's been laid off for about three months. She told us "It is probably more important that we have an awareness that a pillar of the community like the library may not be immune to an economic downturn. It can still fall very easily." Giannoulias says if elected he would support a job creation tax credit for businesses, and a tax holiday for laid off workers.
