A voice-over actor for car insurer GEICO is looking for a new gig after getting dropped by the company over a controversial message he left for a grass roots group.
Lance Baxter, who goes by the moniker "D.C. Douglas," called FreedomWorks last month asking how many, quote, "mentally retarded" people it had on staff.
The message by Baxter also asks what the group would do when a Tea Party member "killed someone." FreedomWorks posted the voicemail message online last week.
Baxter says his strong words were motivated by gay and racial terms allegedly made by Tea Party members at two members of Congress.
He now says he is "open to any attorney taking on his case pro bono."
Baxter says he does not blame GEICO for trying to protect themselves, but says his call was made as a private citizen.
The insurer is now holding auditions to replace Baxter.
FreedomWorks was founded in 1984 and promotes lower taxes and less government.
The organization is now chaired by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey of Texas.
