Lawyers for Drew Peterson are trying to get one of the charges against their client dropped.
    Attorneys say Peterson should not be prosecuted for owning a gun with a barrel shorter than the state mandates, because he carried the weapon as a Boilingbrook police officer.
    The judge will hear the matter later this month.
    Peterson is awaiting trial for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio.
    His fourth wife, Stacy, is still missing.
