New RVC Coaches 8/25/10

Rockford, Illinois-The turnover in the athletic department at Rock Valley College this summer was evident Wednesday when three new coaches were introduced.

Abigail Jenkins takes over as the head volleyball coach.  She's a graduate of Hononegah High School.  Jenkins was a varsity assistant volleyball coach at Harlem last year.  She has previous head coaching experience at Rockford Lutheran High School in 2007 and 2008.

Julian Springer is the new men's head basketball coach at RVC.  Last season he was an assistant coach at Jackson State University.  Prior to that he was an assistant coach at Alma College.  Springer is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Southern Illinois University.

Kevin Vest is the new head baseball coach at RVC.  He comes from Springfield College in Springfield, Illinois where he had been an assistant baseball coach since 2008.  Before that he was the head baseball coach for MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois and an assistant coach at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.  Vest is a graduate of Illinois College.

Also Wednesday RVC announced that women's basketball coach Misty Opat has accepted the position of Interim Athletic Director.
