Com-Ed crews continued to work around the clock trying to restore power throughout the Winnebago and Boone county area.

Tuesday night's storm left some 3600 residents in the dark. Talking with officials it seems this summer's drought has stressed trees beyond normal limits, causing them to break, often falling into power lines like the one outside of Loves Park elementary.

Com-Ed spokesman Paul Callighan says that often times storms like Tuesday nights Often leave trees severely weakened, making them more likely to snap and fall into power lines. Making Com-ED's job that much harder.

However the good news is that Loves Park elementary has had power restored so school should resume as normal.
