Judge Overturned Gov. Pat Quinn's Efforts To Shut Down State Prisons

September 17, 2012 (ILLINOIS) -- A three judge panel overturned Pat Quinn's bid to shut down the Dwight and Tamms prisons.

It comes in the midst of a report showing the state's prison population is at an all time high.
Nearly 50,000 people are behind bars.
   
The state is only equipped to handle 34,000 inmates.
