Rockford - A local church makes waves across the country.
Lifeway Research and Outreach Magazine named Rockford First the 7th fastest growing church in the nation. The church has grown 60% this year. 3,000 people show up for services every weekend.
Rockford First's lead pastor says it's because they keep their message simple. "We've been trying to do church in such a way where it's authentic and it also makes sense" says Jeremy DeWeerdt. "A lot of times people go to church and it's way up here above their head. So, what we try to do is we try to communicate in such a way people can apply it to every single day of their life."
Nearly 30,000 churches in the U.S. were considered for the rankings.
