DeKalb, Illinois-The fact that Kansas is coming to DeKalb Saturday to play NIU is exciting for Huskie fans. The fact that Kansas's head coach is former Notre Damer Charlie Weis makes this game even more intriguing.
Weis has made the rounds coaching in college football and in the NFL. Despite his struggles at Notre Dame he's still regarded as an offensive genius.
NIU Coach Dave Doeren says he's not trying to turn this game into a battle of wits between himself and Weis.
"I'm not playing, and he's not playing," said Doeren. "Our guys have got to beat his blockers and our guys have got to cover his receivers and just make more plays than his guys do. At the end of the game it's not going to be about him or me or anybody else. It's going to be about the eleven guys playing against the other eleven guys."
Saturday's game will kickoff at 2:30. It'll be only the third meeting between the two schools in football.
