DIXON - In just two days the city of Dixon hopes to get millions of dollars back, all allegedly stolen by former comptroller Rita Crundwell.

More than 300 hundred horses are set to be auctioned off this weekend.

Auctioneers are expecting around 2-thousand people to attend the auctions on Monday and Tuesday at Crundwell's ranch, and they anticipate some of the horses to sell for six figures.

People from as far away as Australia, Brazil, and Italy are going to be in Dixon to bid on some of Rita's horses.

Aside from world champion horses up for sale, auctioneers will also be selling horse trailers and show saddles, some with silver parts that have a retail value of close to 15-thousand dollars, and that's just a saddle.

Auctioneers say items up for sale are what made Crundwell competitive in the quarter horse industry.

"[Rita] was becoming a leading breeder of world champions, and that's a big benchmark for the largest breed in the world," said president of Professional Auctioning Services, Inc, the company that's been hired to sell the horses.  "So, a lot of people that sometimes didn't beat Rita would love to have one of Rita's horses, hoping they could be as competitive as she was."

People looking to find a place to stay during the two day auction will have to look outside Dixon, all hotels have been booked for Sunday and Monday.
