Thousands of people jammed into the Rita Crundwell ranch today with opportunity to bid on everything from horses to equipment, Sunday the United States marshal service continued its attempt to recoup some 53 million dollars that the former Dixon comptroller is accused of stealing.

The days most sought after asset was Crundwell's prized quarter horse which,  when all was said and done, ended up selling for 775,000 dollars.

Auctioneers and bidders alike both agreed that today's prices seem to reach an unusual high given the circumstances, however U.S. Marshal Jason Wojdylo says he believes its due to the notoriety surrounding the case .
