Rockford - A Lake in the Hills man who tried to poison his wife to collect an insurance payout will spend the 7.5 years in prison.
Edward Bachner, 39, was sentenced today at the federal courthouse downtown. In 2008, he admitted to investigators he tried to use a chemical commonly found in puffer fish to kill his wife and collect $20 million from her life insurance.
He was arrested before he could poison her.
