Harlem Middle School Teacher Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

A Harlem Middle School teacher has been charged with the criminal sexual abuse of a student. Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato told reporters during a news conference Tuesday that 27-year-old Darcee Baney had sexual contact with a female student she coached on the Belvidere High School girl's basketball team. It allegedly happened between November 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009 when the girl was 17. The victim only recently reported the alleged abuse to police.
Baney faces 10 counts in all, 5 on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and 5 more of criminal sexual abuse.
