Champaign, Illinois-The Fighting Illini will open Big Ten play Saturday. They'll host Penn State. The big question is who will play quarterback.
Nathan Scheelhaase gave it a go last week on his ankle. But he was pulled from the game in favor of Reilly O'Toole. O'Toole outplayed Scheelhaase. O'Toole also played well the previous week against Charleston Southern.
Coach Tim Beckman says Scheelhaase is still the number one guy, but there is competition at the position.
Scheelhaase says he's OK with that. "In a way you always want to have that there, but you 've just got to go out and do your thing," said Scheelhaase. "I've never really looked at it like it's a battle so much as we've just got to do what we can to better ourselves and better our team."
