Rockford - ComEd says the state commerce commission's actions could delay plans to modernize the electrical grid.

The Illinois Commerce Commission made cuts to formulas affecting electricity rates.  Those formulas were passed by the General Assembly and the Governor last year.  One local business owner says if the ICC has its way it could force workers out of a job.  "There are a lot of local jobs are at risk right here in Rockford" says Brent Johnson, President of Ringland Johnson Construction.  "Carpenters, laborers, cement finishers, electricians, and plumbers that would be ashamed mid-stream for them and local companies to not have a place to continue working."

Several top local leaders were in attendance speaking out against the ICC, including Rep. Chuck Jefferson, Winn. Co. Board Chairman Scott Christiansen (R), and Rockford Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Einar Forsman.
