Rockford's Unemployment Rate Shows Improvement

Rockford - The metro area still has the highest unemployment rate in the state, but thanks to 3,000 new jobs, it's improving.
The unemployment rate is now 11.7%, down from nearly 14% at this time last year, the biggest improvement in Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Employment Securities says a majority of those new jobs are in manufacturing.
