A night of kickboxing and MMA action at the BMO HarrisBank Centerhad a surprise ending Saturday night for one of the Stateline's greatest champions.

51 Year old Mean Mike LaBree was making his final entrance in his final pro kickboxing match. The bout would be the last of his career he said. The multi-time World Champion and North American Champion looked good in March when he beat the much younger Jordan Carroll in New Yorkin a title fight. But this fight was far different. LaBree was hurt early in the first round by the much younger and much bigger Rick McGraw of Metropolis, Illinois. And in a matter of seconds this one was over. LaBree..known for his toughness throughout his career...knew he couldn't go on. He told the referee he was done. His career was over.

"He literally just picked me apart," says LaBree. "There was jusdt no reason to continue on and get hurt in this fight."

The other comeback by an aging local fighter went much differently. 40 year old Tim Mazurkiewicz of Roscoe looked quick with his kicks and his spin moves. He defeated Rockford's Chris Appletonby a unanimous decision.

"I felt a little rusty coming off the first round, then I started to get my wind in there in the next rounds and took it to him," says Mazurkiewicz.

In other action, Josh LaBree lost his bout to Robert Duvall of Greensboro, North Carolina. And Chris Zanoni of Machesney Parklost on an early choke hold to Monroe, Wisconsin's Ryan Troung. Local fighters Zach Taylor, Mike Turnmire, Joe Hanley, Andrew Navickis all won impressively.
