Restrictions on Rock River for Regatta This Weekend

ROCKFORD-The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department will be out enforcing a 'No Wake Zone' on the Rock River this weekend for the annual Head of the Rock Regatta. The zone will from from the Riverside Bridge south to the Jefferson Street Bridge for Saturday, and Sunday, October 13 & 14, 2012, from 7:30 AM through 6:00 PM. The event will attract hundreds of World Class competitors from across the midwest competing in 115 races along a 2.75 mile course marked with buoys. Practicing will happen Saturday, with racing scheduled from 8:45am-3:30pm Sunday.
The Sheriff's River Patrol will be patrolling the area both Saturday and Sunday.
The FirstWarn weather team says conditions should be mild, with highs approaching 70 degrees and occassional showers, with a chance of more severe weather Saturday.
