Rockford - The 18 year-old shot and killed by police last week is laid to rest.

A funeral was held for Logan Bell today at Pilgrim Baptist Church.  Dozens from the community who didn't even know Bell paid their respects.  An integrity task force is investigating the shooting to determine if police use of deadly force was justified.

Many in the community say they want answers sooner rather than later.  "I hope that the task force does their investigation very quickly" says Mary Lou Castro, President of LULAC of Rockford.  "We don't want to six months to eight months to a year, that's ridiculous.  They want us to forget?  It's impossible, we can't forget an 18 year-old."

Bell was shot by police last Thursday.  Officers responded to a call that Bell threatened to kill himself.  When police found Bell, he was armed with what looked like a handgun.

They asked him to drop it, but he didn't.

Officers say he pointed the weapon at them and felt their safety was threatened, that's when they shot him.  It was later determined Bell had a pellet gun.  The officers are on administrative leave until an internal investigation is complete.
