Rita Crundwell Makes First Court Appearance In Lee County

The Former Dixon Comptroller appeared in Lee County court Monday for the first time. She's faced with 60 counts of theft and is suspected of depositing more than $53 million from the city of Dixon into her secret bank account. She also faces a wire fraud charge in the federal case in Rockford.
Crundwell was arrested in April and has plead not guilty in the federal case. She requested a public defender in the state case.
Her arraignment is scheduled for October 31st.
