Rockford - With just eight months to go before the area's only Frank Lloyd Wright home opens up as a museum, renovations need to be done.
The Rockford Area Realtors donated about $35,000 to the Laurent Home Foundation. The money will go to fixing the home's roof, bricks, and re-plastering. "It's important for our citizens to realize this is their museum. This is for them to enjoy as well" says Steve Bois, CEO for the Rockford Area Realtors. "This initiative will make it very affordable for everyone in this community to experience one of the architectural wonders in the world right in our backyard."
The home was originally built in 1949. The foundation will open it up to the public in June. They hope to raise $300,000 to complete the renovations.
