Rockford Police Shoot And Kill Armed Suspect

Rockford - Police say they were under attack when they shot and killed a man in his home.
It happened this morning on the 1800 block of Montague Street. Police escorted Amanda Armbruster to the house at her request so she could pick up her things.
When they arrived, officers say 31 year-old Demetrius Bennett grabbed a knife and used his child as a human shield. Officers hit him with pepper spray, that's when they say Bennett ran at them still armed. Police say they had no choice but to defend themselves and shot him. "I called for the Winnebago County integrity task force" says Police Chief Chet Epperson. "The task force has arrived and they'll take command and control of the investigation."
