Alpine Bank Customers Face Potential Identity Theft

Thousands of Alpine Bank customers face potential identity
theft as their personal information is stolen. It happened two months ago when
an unidentified individual broke into a third party server (which had been
hosting the banks website) and stole the information. Included among the data,
were names, social security numbers and email addresses. Chairman Rob
Funderberg says only a small fraction of Alpine customers were affected, and
for those that were a letter has been mailed notifying them of what was exposed
and what steps they should take next. Funderberg also says safeguards are being
put into place to protect those affected.
