Machesney Park - A toy drive hopes to put toys in the hands of children who might not otherwise have something to open Christmas morning.

The Helping Hands Food Pantry, which serves about 250 families a month in the Parks community, held the drive at the Village Hall on Machesney Road.  The toy drive began three years ago, but it's growing every year.

This year's goal is to get 500-600 toys to children.  Village President Tom Strickland says the goal is greater because the need is greater.  "We've gained another 100 families" Strickland says.  "How many kids are in those families?  I couldn't tell you.  But, on average there's two to three kids so that could be another 200-300 ore more we have to service.

Toys will be accepted at the Village Hall through mid-December.
